These days many webmasters use their sidebars to bring in sales apart from sales that come from the post or main content part of their sites. But there is another part of your site that can be used to snag either clicks to your sponsor......at the very least..........or filter traffic to another site within your network.
In blogging, it is known as the footer. I'm speaking, of course, of the very bottom of your webpage. Many webmasters build a horizontal row of either links or pics there as it is the last place a surfer is likely to see before hitting the back button or closing out the window or tab your webpage is in.
It's called a money bar because much like a sidebar it's where you can give the surfer a few choices if he isn't interested in anything else on your website.....and it's last chance to make some money.
How do you build a money bar? I use a simple table. What do you put in the money bar? Typically you want to offer content that is at least slightly different than what he has seen on your webpage because if he is at the bottom you haven't gotten his attention yet.
You can offer different niches, penis enlargement pills, viagra, dating sites, the sky is the limit. Be creative because you've got nothing to lose. You can send the surfer to a sales page or straight to a tour, it's up to you.

This gives me an interesting idea to try. Maybe not a new one, but.... Seems like sponsors are fond of making 120x60 buttons that I have NEVER been able to find a use for....
Maybe a 1R x 6C table (assuming 800px template, give or take) with 6 buttons in there to various "free joins" or "50 for 1" sites? A line or two of text?
Another thing- as I will typically edit the footer file to include a link to my hub page, this could help with branding as well....
Damn wolf now you got me thinking AGAIN!

Yeah, I'm currently re-tooling a lot of my sites to include money bars, better use of sidebars, turning non-updated blogs into SE sites, turning one page SE sites into multi-page sites, etc.

Well, this is a business forum. I knew you ran Asian paysites but I don't think I ever put two and two together as to which ones.
I'm a big fan of 88Square, btw. It's one of the few Asian sites I've actually promoted just because it's so damn good.

Do you have any advice to-do or not-to-do's with money bars, like no flash banners, livechat frames, annoying things for not, and buttons/text for to-do's, size limits, linking to your own sites, etc, or is it pretty much a free for all?

I've seen as many variations as you can imagine. The best advice I think I could give is just keep it simple to start out with and see what works and go from there.......because what I like to do might not work for you and vice versa. |

Back in the dark ages, before the dawn of recorded history, I used to submit Asian galleries
and every one of them had a simple text table at the bottom with about 8 links that were totally unrelated to anything Asian.
Of course, that was before the TGP scripts started couning the outgoing links and limiting them.
Now I use those little banners that nobody knows what to do with.
(but not on FHGs)

I was never into Asians before. Then, I started to see some of the models inside 88Square and the quality of the site itself and I started to develop a liking for Thai's. Of course, I didn't know anything about the niche since it isn't my personal kink, so I picked Scuzz's brain. :) |

To be honest, I haven't used a different campaign to track sales from money bars, that will go on my to-do list for this weekend. |
